When people hear “senior center,” they often picture a quiet room and a few card tables. The reality, at least in much of King County and Snohomish County, is very different.
Recently we visited the Northshore Senior Center in Bothell, and it was full of energy. Seniors were ballroom dancing and belly dancing, playing pickleball, paddling kayaks, cycling with the Golden Gears club, making art, and getting into friendly competition over chess and bridge. It was a good reminder that staying active is not only about exercise, it is also about community, routine, and having something to look forward to.

In the video, you will also see a small moment that captures what we value most as a local team. Our own Mary Watkins stopped by to donate cozy fleeces and reading glasses, a simple gesture that helps people stay warm and comfortable this season.

Mary’s journey with senior care began with the challenges her mother faced. Knowing that she could no longer safely remain in her home, the family started searching for the best care provider, ultimately deciding on a wonderful adult home close to Mary and her family. Her mother spent the last five years of her life receiving excellent care and enjoying a quality of life she would not have had otherwise. This personal experience opened Mary’s eyes to the multiple benefits of quality senior care.
